BoA’s Japanese and Korean Comeback: BoA “Double” Challenge

12 Sep

avck-79215.jpg

In case you couldn’t tell, this month is BoA month in honor of BoA’s first Japanese comeback in FOUR years and her Korean album in THREE years! So, this article is to spread the word!

Her Japanese album was released September 3, 2014 titled, Who’s Back?.

Her Korean album, Kiss My Lips, was released May 12, 2015.

Own it, it’s awesome!

For today, I have a challenge for BoA fans and readers.

BoA has debuted in THREE countries: Korea (2000), Japan (2001), and the USA (2008). She has around 94 music videos and still counting!

Between her Korean music videos and her Japanese videos, BoA has brought over some of her Korean stuff into the Japanese nation. Many times, she has done music videos TWICE for both countries. She translated many of her Korean songs in Japanese.

She did the same thing in America (She translated Girls on Top, her Korean hit, in English).

The music videos between Korea and Japan may look like identical twins, but just like identical twins, there are differences.

The inspiration behind the title comes from a BoA song called “Double”. In the video, she has two mirror versions of herself as she dances.

My challenge for you readers: Can you find the differences?

Ready? Begin!

BoA Double

First, we’ll start with the inspiration behind the title: “Double”. Released in 2003.

I notice there are a lot of differences in editing. Can you spot any differences?

The Shadow

Next, we’ll do The Shadow. Shadow always reminds me of “Double”. BoA has three versions of herself that meet each other at one point. There is an emphasis of BoA mirroring herself, much like in “Double”. Released in 2012.

Can you spot the differences? Japan has a dreamier feeling, while I feel Korea’s shows BoA’s tougher and sexier side.

BoA Shine We Are

It’s even harder to find the differences in these music videos. But they exist! Can you find them?

I hope you enjoyed the BoA “Double” challenge! It was a lot of fun for me!

Leave me a comment and let me know one difference you found in at least one music video!

BoA’s Comeback: Who’s Back?-A Walk With BoA Down Memory Lane

1 Sep

For the month of September, I focused on BoA’s Japanese comeback! She hasn’t had an album in four years!

For the month of May, I am focusing on BoA’s Korean comeback! She hasn’t had an album in Korea for THREE years!

I’m so excited for BoA! She has been in the limelight for 14 years! She is a pop star veteran, at the age of 27! She has more awards and accolades than many TWICE her age, and she has the kind of resume and experience that makes her a superstar! Many K-pop stars can learn from her!

She is more of an international superstar. Her fame in Japan is even greater than her fame in Korea, though she is pretty famous in both nations. She has had plenty of tours in Japan, and just finally had her first Korean tour LAST YEAR. It’s easy to tell that she is well-received in Japan based on the differences of her sales between the two nations since debut…In Korea, she is in the thousands with hard copies, but in Japan? That’s the millions, baby! Her debut album sales in Japan were much higher than her debut sales in Korea. This is why I’m glad she’s having a Japanese comeback this time around.

How did I become a BoA fan?

I know. Judging by all of the recent articles on f(x), it may appear to you that f(x) were my first favorite international artists. But no, they weren’t. I just like them A LOT. But BoA was the second foreign artist that I got into (My first was Utada Hikaru). BoA was the artist that introduced me to other J-pop artists. I first heard of her on Bratz “Show Me What You Got” music video. I was a big Bratz fan at the time. She broadened my music world. At the age of 13, I really didn’t know that there were other pop artists around the world besides the ones in my own backyard. And sure, you modern kids may think that’s pretty ignorant of me, but internet wasn’t quite as advanced as it is now, and people didn’t have I-pads and I-phones yet. I just simply didn’t have exposure to world music yet. However, I did learn about BoA on the internet on a Bratz Yahoo Group (a major fan message board at the time). Once I visited BoA’s website for the first time, I kept following her music closely. I started researching other J-pop artists, and found out about Namie Amuro, Crystal Kay, Ayumi Hamasaki, Firstklas, M-flo, Soul’d Out, Koda Kumi, Hitomi, and many others. Even though I knew about Utada first, I knew about her from the English Kingdom Hearts. I thought she was an American artist because she spoke English so well…so I usually consider BoA my first favorite foreign artist. It wasn’t until later that I learned she was actually Korean. Later, when I started getting into her K-pop work, I was introduced to DBSK (or TVXQ, as you all may know them). However, I was still into J-pop more than K-pop until f(x) stepped into my life…But I was, in fact, introduced to f(x) through boajjang.com…a BoA fan website…

So, now that you know my BoA story, you understand why I have to make this month special for BoA’s comeback album and tour.

And in honor of that tour, I am taking you on a walk down memory lane with BoA. I will be posting all of BoA’s music videos from her debut up until now from both Korea and Japan! I am proud of BoA’s success, and I want to share it with fellow BoA fans and new people who are reading (or watching)!

Let’s begin with BoA’s first MV ever, ID:Peace B! Such a long time ago! It’s hard to believe! We were all so young…*Tear* 😥

6 Aug

SM Town Live World Tour IV will begin AUGUST 15, 2014, and will begin at the Seoul World Cup Stadium in Seoul, Korea! But they will also be touring other cities around the world. The other cities listed are Tokyo, Shanghai, and Hsinchu.

1) Tokyo, Japan’s performances will be held at the Ajinomoto Stadium. Tour dates:

*October 4, 2014

*October 5, 2014

2) Shanghai, China’s performances will be held at the Shanghai stadium. Tour dates:

3) Hsinchu, Taiwan’s performances will be held at the Hsinchu County Stadium. Tour Dates:

*March 21, 2015

The Tour will include performances from the following artists:

Kangta

From being a part of SM’s first biggest boy-band success, H.O.T. (debut in 1996 WOW), to charting his own solo career, Kangta is a determined force to be reckoned with! This group thrust SM Entertainment into being one of the biggest labels in Korea, and are one of the groups to spark the “idol group” trend! They were the first SM group to hold a concert performance outside of Korea. Move aside noobs, Kangta’s taking the stage this time! He is also scheduled to have a comeback THIS YEAR! His last comeback was in 2010, and that was in Chinese. So his presence will definitely be a treat, both for old-time fans and for newcomers. I just can’t wait to see him grace the stage once again! Check out his last Korean release along with his debut!

BoA

Hailed as Korea’s Princess of Pop (and in many people’s eyes, the Queen), BoA Kwon (debut in 2000 WOW) will also take the stage once again! She is acknowledged for being one of the first Korean artists to achieve international success! She’s not only a household name in Korea, but in Japan as well! She has also stepped into the Chinese market as well as the American market! She has had the privilege of performing alongside the Princess of Pop, Britney Spears! She has also performed with Backstreet Boy’s Howie D. and with “Bratz” (MGA Entertainment’s line of fashion dolls). BoA is well-known to most westerners for singing the ending theme for the anime Inuyasha. BoA was SM’s first artist to chart American music industry territory with her self-titled all-English album, BoA. She also recently starred in her first U.S. movie, Make Your Move with Derek Hough! This humble diva has a huge resume following her, and she’s only 27! Currently, she has been working on her Japanese comeback, scheduled September 3. BoA is also well-known for her extremely immaculate dancing talent, which has gotten the attention of western audiences in Make Your Move and during her U.S. debut. Guys, ya’ll know BoA is my FAVORITE K-pop idol (a tad bit more than f(x)) 😛 I’ve been a fan of this chick since 2003 when she featured in the Bratz song and single Show Me What You Got! Check out her latest Korean activities as well as her debut!  The Queen shall take the stage! Bow down!

TVXQ

Originally five members, TVXQ (Though I know them as DBSK) are often referred to as the “Kings of K-pop” by many. TVXQ (debut 2003) have now been stripped down to two members. This group has had the privilege of performing among one of America’s most notorious stars, Britney Spears! These men have since risen as international superstars! They have made their names well-known in Japan. They are noted as being the first K-pop act to have 13 number one singles in Japan! They were the first non-Japanese Asian artists to headline a Japanese nationwide dome tour. Billboard has even described them as “K-pop Royalty”. They have recently been focusing on their activities in Japan, and have had success with their last four singles released there. This group is known for their eloquent, efficient, and polished dancing. They have a distinct style that is hard to miss, and their experience shows. Member Yunho was also featured in the American movie Make Your Move. He showed off his sexy moves! I certainly can’t wait to see these men steam up the stage this August! Check out their latest Korean activities and their debut!

Super Junior

Super Junior (debut in 2005) began with TWELVE full members. They got a lot of attention by having all of those men singing in harmony, almost like a choir! At the group’s peak, they have had THIRTEEN members. That’s a lot of men in one group! Currently, Suju has TEN active members. This was also the first group to add two sub-group members to help cater to the Chinese-Mandarin language. Super Junior was the first SM group to have major success in China. Super Junior has had success in other industries besides music. Along with singing and dancing, they have a lot of entertainment experience from acting and hosting. Because of their success in entertaining, other management companies have been training their idols in other areas of entertainment as well. They were K-pop’s best-selling artists three years in a row! This group is one of SM’s international superstars, and is one of the most notorious groups in the modern K-pop world. Super Junior will bring all that makes them awesome to us this August! Check out this group’s latest Korean activities and their debut!

Girls’ Generation (SNSD)

The 9-member Goddesses, Girls’ Generation (SNSD) (debut in 2007) made their stamp on the K-pop industry with the ever-catchy, “Gee”, gaining them success in Asia and beyond!  They certainly represent the beauty of Korea! They are SM’s latest divas, often called the “K-pop Queens of this Decade”. This group has also gained a lot of attention for their number of members! Their voices, in harmony, can take up a whole dome!  They still carry the largest number of members of any successful female group! Their foray into the Japanese market has also been highly successful. Their album, Girls’ Generation, is still the highest selling K-pop album in Japan to date! They are considered one of Korea’s top tier female groups in the modern decade. They have managed to experiment with different languages with their songs, most notably “The Boys”, releasing the song in Japanese, Korean, and for the first time, in English. To date, they ARE SM’s biggest and most successful girl group! And their success doesn’t seem to be slowing down anytime soon. They will bless us with their lovely presence this August! Enjoy their most recent Korean activities and their debut!

Shinee

Shinee (debut in 2008), the five-member male fashion and style icons of the modern decade, are well-known for their creative, synchronized, and complex dancing. And yes, they are fashion pioneers, starting the “Shinee Trend”. To date, they are the only male group that remained close since their debut, and have never split. They have great success in the Japanese market, being labeled as the group that “managed to get in top 3 for 3 continuous releases since debut”. Shinee is known for their striking, dramatic, individual personalities, which lands them acting roles. Shinee is also known for their boyish youth and energy. When Shinee performs, they perform with their “whole soul” as if they really love music even more than success. Unlike most male groups, Shinee doesn’t mind singing romantic love songs more often than once! They are definitely one of the most unique boy bands of the modern decade. They have had major K-pop success with three full-length albums, five EPs, three concert tours, and many awards. Shinee will “shine” for us this August! I can’t wait to see what these men will cook up for this tour…This is my favorite male group, so I’m anticipating it very much! Check out their most recent Korean activities as well as their debut!

f(x)

f(x) (debut in 2009) is SM’s first major multi-national group where over half the members were NOT born in Korea! f(x) entered the Korean market during a time when most girls were doing the “cute” thing. f(x) decided to “do something different”, and voila! You get the sense of this group. f(x) boasts as being Asia’s Best Female Dance Group, and so far, they are! f(x) is known for their “legendary and epic” dance moves, as well as their multitude of talents: acting, piano, song-writing, guitar, ice skating, drums, acrobatics, and so much more! Because of their individual talents, the members have developed their own independent careers outside of this group! f(x) is known as SM’s “experimental” group because of f(x)’s unconventional sounds and quirky lyrics. Their fashion styles are bold and individualistic. In fact, Olleh finds f(x) to be Korea’s most individualistic girl group. With f(x), you never know how they will comeback! Their “art of surprise” keeps their fans on their toes. f(x) draws curious attention from their unusual approach, but they also gain the respect of many foreign music critics for their original and artistic style. In fact, f(x) is considered SM’s most critically-acclaimed group by many! This group, of all of SM’s groups, seems to have the most artistic freedom, and is the most musically and fashionably expressive.  They have had major success in Korea, and have gained Chinese and American attention as well, mostly due to the multi-cultural girls within the group that speak languages those nations can understand. I personally love this group! They recently had their comeback in July, though they went on a hiatus shortly after. It is good to know they will be back to performing in August. I can’t wait to see f(x) make an impact on the stage! Check out their recent Korean activities as well as their debut.

EXO

EXO (debut in 2011, basically 2012) are SM Town’s most recent, fresh boy-band act. They debuted with TWELVE members, just like Super Junior, but unlike Suju, they debuted as two sub-unit groups: EXO-K (Korean) and EXO-M (Chinese-Mandarin). They have had HUGE success, both in Korea and in China. Their fresh, rugged vibe attracts the hearts of many young fan girls, and their “one-shot” camera shooting, a hallmark of their music videos, draws attention from video experts. They are SM’s modern-day boy band, keeping up with the “Social Media Age” and the “Digital Revolution” to properly promote, spread, and highlight this group. EXO, in just two short years, has gained the success that most of their seniors have had to slowly acquire over the years! In less than two years, they have had their first LIVE TOUR! They have only had TWO albums: full-length and repackage (2013), and their repackage was the best selling album of that year! Thanks to SNS, international fans have more access to K-pop, which contributes to their success. But their on-camera confidence, their ability to use two languages at the same time, and their modern, trendy music help to put the cherry on top! They radiate all that an idol boy-band needs to be a huge success. Shoot, their seniors might want to learn FROM THEM. They will be “bursting at the scenes” when they hit the stage this August. It’s hard to deny the affect they’ve had on the K-pop world. They are considered K-pop’s top tier male group in this decade.

Newcomers: Red Velvet

Newcomers, Red Velvet (debut in 2014), just debuted about a week ago, and they have already captured the attention of fellow SM label fans! SM describes them as a mix between Girls’ Generation and f(x). We can see that it’s very true. Like Girls’ Generation, they are four lovely girls, with amazing vocal abilities, and with charming, girlish, and sweet personas. They also look a lot alike! But like f(x), their style is bold, quirky, and colorful. They are SM’s fourth girl group (The Grace, SNSD, f(x), and now them). It has been a while since SM debuted a girl group, so this is quite a refreshing change for SM fans. As they just debuted, there’s a lot more for us to discover about this new group. This Tour in August is the perfect time for them to show the world what they are made of! Check out their debut!

J-Min

J-Min’s inspirations can tell you a lot about her. The person that struck me was Michelle Branch. I honestly didn’t know any K-pop idols knew of Michelle Branch, but here comes J-Min! “K-pop Queen of Acoustic”, J-Min can be likened to the “Jewel of K-pop”. Her music is very different from the other SM Entertainment artists. In fact, if you ever heard her music, you wouldn’t even know she was an SM artist! Her distinct style and expressive music prove that true art can still shine in a modern-music world. Most of her success is in Japan, as that is where she first debuted. It is not surprising, as many artistic artists make their mark there (Utada Hikaru, Gackt, School Food Punishment). It’s no wonder she stands out so much: her music is more Japanese than Korean! She is a huge soundtrack maven! Try your favorite K-drama, and listen to the opening or the ending. You might just see her name pop up in the credits! Her music is very suited to K-dramas because her music is very “real”. Even though she debuted into the music industry in 2007, her first Korean EP and full-album were just released in 2014! I can’t wait to see this performance! It will definitely blow me away! Check out her Korean debut!

Zhang Li Yin

Zhang Li Yin (debut in 2006) is a Chinese solo artist who gained China’s attention AND Korea’s attention. That is quite an accomplishment for a foreign solo artist. She speaks fluent Mandarin and Korean. SM nicknamed her the “Chinese BoA”. She was one of the lead players of the “Korean Wave”. Though she only had one studio album, many of her singles were #1 hits. She was the first foreign artist to win Best Newcomer Award at the Mnet Music Awards. Zhang Li Yin has charted her own destiny, stepping out of BoA’s shadow, and into her own skin. She is now a “Ballad Goddess”. Her music videos are always touching, and she always has a meaningful story behind them. Most definitely NOT generic, and a must-watch! All of her ballads are amazing! Zhang Li Yin is hitting the stage once again! We get to hear her lovely melodious voice soar on stage! I’m so excited! Check out her recent Korean activities as well as her debut!

Fly to the Sky

Instead of going for electronic, upbeat sounds, Fly to the Sky (debut 1999) took a more unique approach to music at the time of their debut. This mid-tempo group is known for their soothing, R&B melodies. They incorporate hip-hop and rap in their music as well. This makes them distinct among SM’s artists. This was one of the groups that also had an international American artist in it. They branched away from SM for awhile, but they came back with the label. They have been on a five year hiatus. But now, they are back! I’m sure fans are anxious to see their faces once more.

So now that I have introduced you to the SM artists that will be attending the Live World Tour, are you people excited? I look forward to August 15!

Leave me a comment and let me know which artist you look forward to the most! Which artist did you just learn about?

More Disappointing News: SM and f(x) ANNOUNCE That Promotions Have Been Cancelled Due to Malicious Rumors

24 Jul

fx-red-light-group

Yesterday, I get some bad news about one of my favorite mangas (CLICK LINK TO SEE), and today, I get some news about my favorite Kpop group. JUST SHOOT ME NOW!

AllKpop is the Source

This was my original statement on my original post regarding THIS ISSUE:

The most annoying and disturbing parts about all of this are the rumors that have followed. Most fans are blaming f(x)’s Sulli for the schedule clearance, especially since most fans believe the idol to have lost interest in music, and seems to be putting more effort into her acting career. Many rumors speculate that she’s pregnant, and many people believe her to be dating. These were the same rumors that showed up when Sulli had that “abdominal issue” a couple of months ago…

Many people just believe Sulli is lying about being sick, will pull a “Kris” (EXO-M) on the group, and quit.

Still, many others know how, in SM’s past, other idols have continued promotions, tours, and performances, even when one member was absent. f(x) continued their promotions in 2010 after f(x)’s Amber had an ankle injury. They gave her a whole six months to recover. People speculated then. So, people wonder, “why isn’t f(x) performing at all?”

Instead of helping the situation, these rumors make everything worse.

Whether Sulli is lying or not, the situation is a tricky one, she obviously needs to take time off and it isn’t any of our business. Entertainment isn’t a mandatory thing. Ya’ll need to find something productive to do. At this point, any movement could hurt the group. SM has a tough decision to make, so I understand them when they state, “We are trying to decide whether to continue promotions or not”. If they do continue on without Sulli, you know what fans are going to say? “It’s not the same without Sulli”, “Something is missing”, “f(5)” or “I hope Sulli isn’t going to quit”…etc. This was exactly what happened when K-pop boy band Shinee continued their promotions without Jonghyun (due to his injury). Oh, what an outcry! This is also what happened when promotions went on without Amber. Fans cried, “It’s not the same without Amber. They feel like another boring girl group”. And then Krystal fainted onstage from exhaustion. This caused most fans to think that she was being overworked, and without Amber, they had to do even more work.

I believe SM is at a still moment, trying to decide whether to continue f(x) promotions, or whether to wait until Sulli gets better. It’s not like Sulli has an injury, so she’s going to get better soon. So, if they do wait, they wouldn’t have to wait that long. But, at the same time, if they do wait, they could lose their audience as the other K-pop comebacks swarm in.

It’s the same thing that happened with Kris from EXO. EXO stated that they would continue without Kris. Though most fans may have wanted the group to continue, some fans felt that it was bogus, and that EXO should’ve cancelled their tour to be “there” for their “brother”, Kris. I kept reading comments of fans online, saying, “EXO=12, not 11″.

Let’s just keep it real. When one member is missing, it creates more scandals, and disappoints fans even more. Keeping all members away does less damage in that way. SM has learned from other “missing idols” how much that would disappoint fans.

However, and this is where it gets sticky, if f(x) doesn’t promote “Red Light”, possibly their last comeback until next year, we are left with the “2013″ issue all over again: a lack of promotion and a dead comeback, which will cause SM to ignore f(x) even more. They’ve only promoted their album for TWO weeks. Luna promised fans that they would have even more promotion than last year. Now, I’m not one to panic. They are probably trying to surprise us with something else. We don’t know. But it’s a bit scary when you’ve been hoping for a solid f(x) year, especially since fans feel left out of the K-pop world with no fan name or solo concert, and you suddenly see nothing on the calendar to look forward to.

Though ya’ll already know how I feel about that…

f(x) gets treated unfair?

SM can’t force Sulli to continue sick. Many people have pointed out how SM used to force artists to perform sick in the past, and are wondering why they haven’t forced Sulli (Yea, I know, I actually heard comments like this). I believe they learned from Kris of EXO. When Kris couldn’t get time off because of his “illness”, he filed a lawsuit. It made SM look bad. I don’t think SM wants that to happen again. What people don’t realize is that SM pays money for artists to perform at venues and to be promoted. When artists skip out, SM has to find a way to pay the venues, make-up artists, costume designers, etc, back the money they promised would be coming as a result of the appearance. f(x) hasn’t gotten that far yet, unlike Kris of EXO who was preparing for a TOUR, which costs a HEFTY amount of money.

What’s truly sad is that people always complain about SM Entertainment treating it’s artists like robots and controlling them, but when you read the comments’ sections of articles talking about this issue, you realize that SM is just reflecting how the fans are. SM goes wherever the fans (and money) goes. The fans are somewhat more controlling and demanding than SM. SM is really just trying to comply with the demands of fans. Some people call Sulli lazy, and demand her to smile for them and dance energetically for them, so if they’re making those kind of demands, wouldn’t SM? The fans demand the girls to wear trendy outfits and look pretty, otherwise they hate the whole “comeback”. So wouldn’t SM, as a company, skip out on the creativity to go with something more appealing to the eyes? The fans demand f(x) to promote for long periods of time, every week, non-stop, almost like, hmmm, SM. If I were f(x), I would be exhausted and sick, too, especially if I haven’t been on a stage in 11 months. The fans act like the girls are robots.

Last week, Sulli was said to have come down with the “flu” and couldn’t perform with the other members. Ever since then, people have really attacked Sulli, calling her a “liar”, insinuating that she was “pregnant” or “trying to quit f(x)”, and stating how “lazy she is” and how the group was “better off without her”. When she was finally getting better, she had to read hateful comments that made her feel even worse, emotionally and physically. Now, f(x) has cancelled promotions ALTOGETHER for the rest of July.

Fortunately, they will still be performing “Red Light” at the SM Town World Tour in Seoul, Korea. I’m surprised they are even doing that. I wish I could go. According to SM’s statement, it appears that activities will continue after that date. So, it may just be temporarily down.

SM Town World Tour IV August 15, 2014

As we say thank you to the fans who love f(x), we have an announcement to make. [f(x)] member Sulli became mentally and physically exhausted from the continuous, malicious comments and false rumors, and has expressed her wish to take a break from her celebrity activities for the time being.

After careful deliberation and taking her wish into consideration, we will reduce her activities and let her take a break for the time being.

Also, f(x)’s promotions for their 3rd full-length album ‘Red Light’ ended with their stage on SBS’ ‘Inkigayo’ last week. f(x) will continue on activities with the SMTOWN Seoul concert on August 15 and overseas promotions, as well as individual schedules for the remaining four members Victoria, Amber, Luna, and Krystal.

We regret to inform fans of this news and we ask that you continue to show your support and love for f(x).
Thank you.” -SM Entertainment

fx comeback red light calendar

It’s always the K-pop fans that have to screw up and make EVERYTHING worse. In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised if this was the EXACT reason Kris from EXO left. He was already suffering from the lawsuit, but I can imagine the horrible comments made him want to leave even more. Oh, and I can just guess what people are going to say now: “Why is she acting like a drama queen?”, “She needs to be tougher than that”, “She needs to get over herself”. People are going to also say, “Why didn’t she just send out a personal statement, so we wouldn’t worry?” Well, why can’t you people just accept the fact that she needs to TAKE A BREAK? The whole idol world has been attacked lately, from the dating scandals, the drug scandals (Bom), and the loss of idols. Just STOP the HATE.

People also have the nerve to say, “She’s too sensitive”. I’m sorry, maybe it’s because Sulli actually CARES what her fans think! You people may think most idols just ignore what people say, but many times they go in their rooms and cry when they are alone at night. Many celebrities even KILL themselves over these malicious rumors! We know this. There was a time music was about MUSIC. Now, all of the unnecessary tidbits are highlighted in the media; things that have nothing to do with a person’s musical career. We can’t say that every idol just “sucks it up”. Some idols’ careers have been destroyed by gossip. Fans let their “assumptions” rule their heads more than “facts” these days, and they believe anything the news media says. News media can be helpful or destructive, but their goal is to get the news, yes, but also to draw in as many readers as possible. They often get paid for how many people “traffic” their online articles or buy their magazines. They need your interest, and will do what it takes to get it. I take it none of you have heard of The Shattered Glass incident…The bigger an artist, the harder they will get it from media. SM and YG are “Powerhouse” labels, so media knows they can draw in “traffic” with their artists in the headlines.

Media isn’t always bad. Again, it can be helpful to building a career, especially if someone needs to promote themselves. But let’s not jump over with panic when we read things with the words “rumor” or “gossip” in the title. More than likely, it isn’t legit.

You people talk about SM being heartless, money-hungry, and controlling? YOU PEOPLE are entertainment-hungry, heartless, and more controlling than SM could ever be! The only reason SM is so controlling is because of the HUGE demands from you thankless fans, pushing SM to push their own artists. You people project your own faults! They released an excellent conceptual album, and didn’t get so much a “Thank You”.

PEOPLE are shocked SM has pulled ALL promotions. Well, after the Kris incident, I can see why. They don’t want to be SUED again! If they don’t let Sulli rest, it will fall on them! If they do push Sulli, and she decides to do it, she won’t be happy! She will be even less energetic, knowing that critical eyes are watching her from the audience. It’s no wonder she has been “lazy”. You “fans” are horrible!

You want to blame Sulli for the reasons promotions have stopped? Why don’t you people start with the “person in the mirror”? Without your cutting comments, the problem could’ve been resolved. You people need to stop projecting your horrible behavior on someone who entertains YOU. She is doing a service for YOU. And you people are the harsh, “power-tripping” bosses bent on destroying this girl’s career.

In fact, I’m starting my STOPtheHate campaign right now. Anyone who wants to help this, #StoptheHate and #SulliImSorry on Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram.

For CRYING OUT LOUD, She is HUMAN! I just want to go Chris Crocker on people and say, “LEAVE SULLI ALONE!” You are lucky she took the time out of her busy schedule to help create a FULL ALBUM for you ungrateful bastards!

Not only did people probably make this girl’s week miserable, simply because she didn’t show up for a COUPLE OF PERFORMANCES, due to being “humanly” SICK, but people RUINED things for ALL OF US FANS.

This was my first year supporting f(x), and my first impression of this fan-base. And this is what I see? What a horrible display of humanity! People in this K-pop universe have gotten so ridiculously caught up in their “biases” that they create fan-wars and spread hate (because I can guarantee that the majority of people who wrote those comments were either trolls, f(x) haters, or people who wanted their idols to get more attention this summer).

It’s no wonder f(x) only comes out with ONE comeback a year. Because of this foolishness. This was the exact foolishness that killed Michael Jackson and Elvis Presley.

This was supposed to be f(x)’s year! This was the year we were supposed to get a fan name! A Concert! MORE PROMOTIONS, as Luna said! And people just had to SCREW it ALL UP!

I wouldn’t be surprised if the whole group disbanded on account of these OVERBLOWN fans. They just couldn’t chill out and be patient. They had to state stupid ideas on the internet. Ignorance runs rampant in the K-pop jungle. And then we have news websites, like Kpopstarz, posting horrible articles like this: Kpopstarz Fuels the Flames!

They actually posted a poll like this! :

poll that hurts Sulli

With the fourth answer being, “Who cares if Sulli leaves? The others will be fine.” I don’t even want to share the results with you. Not only do I blame Kpopstarz for instigating this fierce maliciousness, but I blame the PEOPLE WHO GAVE Kpopstarz the incentive to write this bull! They wouldn’t have posted it if people really weren’t saying ridiculous things like this. f(x) wouldn’t have been successful without ALL FIVE members, and you people know it! You wouldn’t even know her name if she wasn’t popular. Every f(x) member has developed themselves as individuals, and EVERY member has proven themselves.

f(x) Sulli’s Talents

f(x) Victoria’s Talents

f(x) Amber’s Talents

f(x) Krystal’s Talents

f(x) Luna’s Talents

And you idiots, who had the nerve to click that, ARE TO BLAME! I put the blood on your hands! If only I could read the names of those who pressed that, I would blast every last one of you! I’m glad all of f(x) stopped promotions. It serves you people right! Enjoy a boring summer with over-sexualized idols and summer jams, and not a sprinkle of originality! That’s what you wanted, that’s what you got!

THIS WEEK IS NOT MY WEEK!

And then people want to ask why the others can’t continue without her! You want to know why they won’t? I’ll tell you why. Because f(x) isn’t BOGUS enough to continue without Sulli. They don’t appreciate your mistreatment of her ANY MORE than she appreciated it! Unlike most groups, f(x) has a strong bond, and they see the value in their members. I’m not saying EXO didn’t value Kris before he left, but they sure didn’t mind moving on without him. And they didn’t mind posting, “EXO 11” on their twitters, either. The other f(x) members KNOW how hard Sulli works because they WORK WITH HER. She has tried really hard to give to her music fans and K-drama fans at the same time. Her K-Drama fans are better at supporting her than her music fans. Maybe that’s why she enjoys it more. All she needs is a little RESPECT, patience, and SUPPORT. People don’t even know what support means anymore. Sulli would give a whole lot more if she had more of that “S” word, I guarantee it. If fans had been supportive, instead of ignorant and haughty, her smile might have returned to the stage.

f(x) is one of the very few groups that make a lot of money from individual activities, almost to the point they don’t really need money from their music activities. If they really relied on music to pay them, they would’ve continued promotions, even if they didn’t want to. But f(x) is so multi-talented, they can spread their talents anywhere. And they do! They really create music because they WANT to. They literally just ENJOY making music for their fans. For many idols, music is the only way they put bread and butter on the table. For f(x), it’s just one of the ways. So, this was not a loss. They simply went back to their own individual activities once they saw how belligerent you people were.

You people claim that SM usually forces its artists to keep going despite sickness or rumors, so this gives you reason to assume (yet again) something else is going on. Well, I wonder where you might get your ideas that SM forces its artists to perform? A news media website? The deceitful news media? Or maybe MORE GOSSIP; Some more irrational accusations that lack FACT. Just more and more assumptions that so often get passed on as fact by casual listeners. Perhaps, maybe, I don’t know,  artists choose to perform anyway! Whether SM urges the person to continue is probably circumstantial.

For instance, the EXO-Kris case. He became ill, and requested some time off. SM granted his request to have SOME time off, but they didn’t encourage him to go on a hiatus. The reason was because he agreed to a TOUR. The expenses of a tour are large. You are paying large venues for time slots, paying to have effective sound systems, lighting, costumes, make-up, the printing of tickets, advertising, and so many other expenses. SM is a multi-billion dollar company, but they have to spread their finances among many different idol groups, as well as pay the bills they owe towards their OWN company. Those debts add up, trust me. If Kris suddenly went on hiatus, the venue risks losing business from fans, who may have only wanted to see Kris. They also risk losing the interest of fans who may have wanted to see all 12 members. The venue may decide to drop the group for a stronger group presence.  Lighting would have to be altered to make up for the loss of the member. Sound systems would have to be altered, especially if they all planned to lip-sync. Someone would need to replace Kris’s lines, and any song they can’t sing without Kris, they would not sing at all. This also put a lot of pressure on the other members. They were already tired from the constant practice. It takes a lot of work to practice a whole SET of songs, let alone start ALL OVER due to a missing person! Then they have to readjust who sings what. It’s time consuming and exhausting. This is why SM URGES their artists, in that case, to keep going with plans.

Read More About the EXO Kris Case Here

But in cases where the artist hasn’t made any major future plans, SM is more flexible because they aren’t LOSING anything. That’s how any business is, especially in professions that provide service to others like medical health, teaching, or yes, singing, where often a person is almost “required” to be at work. Teachers and nurses can take time off as much as the next person, but if a situation arises where the nurses and teachers are absolutely needed, their bosses will strongly urge them to be at work. For children who don’t work, this may seem controlling. But many of their bosses have a legit reason for making the demand. It’s really a reflection of the demand of the one they “serve”. It’s almost slave labor, and very challenging. Only people who understand business would know that. It’s often hard for teachers to get time off because students tend to misbehave with substitutes. Students also learn best with consistent teaching methods. Principals really would rather teachers come to work. If students don’t learn, it falls on the teachers. They get blamed for everything, even when a child just refuses to comply. Nurses and doctors are often in high demand when hospitals are packed. Their supervisors would urge them to come into work because they really just need a body to at least watch patients. If there is a shortage of doctors and nurses at a hospital, the death toll at that hospital could increase. People will not be able to get the personal attention they need because the few nurses there would be spreading their time with other patients. Every job has a contract. There are always rules that workers have to comply with if they expect to earn a living, but this doesn’t mean their bosses are necessarily forcing them to work. We all have choices.

You people constantly compare her situation to other artists, stating, “This other artist I know performed when they were sick” and “This other artist I know didn’t stop promoting because of rumors”. Well, guess what? They should have gone on hiatus, too! Why would a smart person perform sick? They would risk getting sicker and risk looking dead onstage! To add, they would be spreading the virus! That means their sickly hands touched doors, microphones, costumes, and other people! That’s just gross! And those artists that continue promotion in spite of rumors? It’s funny how you people call that “strength” and “endurance”. I call it an abusive “fan-idol” relationship. You are an idol that’s being slammed over and over again by the fans’ verbal abuse, and yet, you still faithfully and submissively give your energy and time to the same fans abusing you? That’s NOT SMART. That’s letting them CONTROL you and manipulate you! That’s allowing your fans to abuse you. You are letting them get away with it by rewarding them with your talents and gifts. An idol who does that has developed too much dependency on their fans, up to the point they internalize the issue and keep performing for these people. They must be convincing themselves that you people were just trying to give constructive criticism. For most K-pop fans who make comments regarding these idols, their comments are critical alright, but not the constructive kind. I’m sorry, but you people who came up with this point need to re-evaluate your thinking. And I also suggest psychiatric help: You might have some control issues.

Really, you can’t even compare Sulli’s situation to other female idols. Every circumstance is different. Other female artists may perform sick or despite rumors, but there are reasons it may work. 1) Most female artists do not perform intense choreography. When someone is sick, they lose energy. When someone is depressed, they lose energy. However, most female idols barely dance. They usually have simple dance moves that don’t require a lot of youthful energy. Compare “Red Light”‘s choreo to the other female comebacks this summer. f(x)’s choreo requires intense concentration and energy. 2) Some female groups have so many members, one mistake can be made up by the dozen of other girls in the group! With only so few members in f(x), the mistakes are more noticeable, so a tired and sick person would be obvious. This is even worse when an artist is solo. Why do you think BoA has it so hard?

Men hardly get slammed when they go on hiatus. No one hardly makes false rumors. People treated Jonghyun a WHOLE lot better than people are treating Sulli when he had to stop promotions due to an injury. This is why women are always held back. Women get slammed the worst by these haters. And majority of the haters are women! Really? What happened to sticking together? Women have such a disadvantage because they get hit with the “pregnant” scandals. Men can get away with so much! They could have babies everywhere, and no one would ever know. No one would ever think it would interfere with work. This is why people don’t respect women in the working world. Pregnancies limit women from being REAL workers. This kind of rumor is not only more than likely false, but destructive to a working woman’s career.

What you people failed to realize is that this was only going to be a temporary thing, a temporary hiatus, but now you people, who made a mountain out of a hill, have permanently put a stop to promotions altogether!

And people are still coming up with these dumb rumors! They are still claiming SM and Sulli are trying to hide something. How about this: IT DOESN’T MATTER. All that matters is that they make good entertaining music for people who like their style to enjoy! That is their job. Their personal lives have NOTHING to do with that. Just like my personal life has nothing to do with my job…This goes for ANY job, unless you work at home as a stay-at-home father or mother (that’s quite a job, and the only personal one that exists).

Regardless, we don’t know the whole story, so who are we to assume? Who are we to let our assumptions decide our ACTIONS and whether we should support f(x)’s MUSIC or not? Shouldn’t we be focusing on their MUSIC?

For those of you who still continue to inquire about these rumors, asking questions like “So, is it true Sulli is pregnant?” Remember this: It takes two to spread malicious gossip; One person to say it, and the others who hear it and believe it. Haters are taking advantage of the weak-minded and the gullible.  They will use your innocent questions, just as K-popstarz did, as evidence to prove that even f(x) fans are bashing Sulli’s head in, even if it wasn’t intended. So please, stop feeding into these rumors, stop inquiring about them because you’re just making everything worse.

People carry that pregnant rumor because they believe it’s “odd” that Sulli said she was sick suddenly, and “odd” that SM is protecting Sulli so much. What’s odd about that? SM is protecting its OWN reputation.

Even though Sulli and Choiza are dating, who cares? Why is this such a big deal that you have to turn it into something negative? It’s great that she found someone who loves her and will take care of her.

Sulli may decide to have a baby in the future. So, when that time comes she CAN. After she has it, she can make music again. What’s the big deal? That’s what women do. Beyonce is pregnant with her SECOND baby. So what? It’s not mandatory to have a SONG in your life. You people may think she would be letting her fellow members down, but why would she? They all have their own activities! As workers, they shouldn’t always be so dependent on each other anyway. Every artist knows to have a fail-safe. Nothing in the music world is guaranteed. One member could die tomorrow, like what happened with TLC. What would happen then? They would still need to make a living. They need to learn to invest in other talents and continue developing themselves as individuals.

The people who made these comments need to grow up. Whoever was responsible for this childishness needs to re-evaluate themselves. They are the reason people want the internet regulated. You people can make ridiculous comments behind a computer, but I’ll bet my plushies you would be SCREAMING for Sulli if she came in your town, you phonies, you back-stabbers, you two-faced wannabes!

People want to get angry at Sulli for not “smiling” more, or dancing as energetically. A lot of help your criticisms did in improving that! Maybe if she’d have gotten a little TLC, you might have seen a happier Sulli return. And you all think this was the beginning of the malicious hate? “Fans” have been slamming Sulli since her promotions of Pink Tape! They have been calling her “lazy” ever since her performances of “Rum Pum Pum Pum”! Though she delivered at the SM Town Winter Wonderland Concert Tour…She smiled the whole time and seemed to be having fun. But with all the other “slams”, it’s no wonder Sulli seems so unhappy.

Fans don’t know what they want. You people complain about Sulli looking tired and lazy onstage for a WHOLE two years, but then you refuse to let her get some SLEEP! Every worker deserves sick days AND personal days. And so what about it? Why do you need to make accusations about it?

Some people have the nerve to say some dumb ish like this: “What’s she sick and tired from? f(x) barely has to do the work other idols do, like perform large tours and stuff.” Most of those idols ONLY focus on their music because most of them only have one talent and one promotional ticket. Take EXO for example. Most of their talents are singing and dancing. So, of course, they focus more on their music and rarely get asked to do random activities such as MCing or filming for dramas. Just because none of the f(x) members have been doing f(x)-related work, doesn’t mean they weren’t WORKING hard! They are all multi-talented, so many are filming dramas, Mcing for shows (Amber was just selected by KBS A Song for You to be the MC and was MCing for We Got Married Global two months ago), showcasing with other artists (Luna is working with Play the Sirens and will be featured in their MV and performances, Victoria is going to be featured in Zhang Li Yin’s MV), and so many other activities. They also have striking individual images, so they always get asked to do photo-shoots and commercials. Every time I look up, f(x) is in a magazine! Just recently: High Cut, The Celebrity, Nylon! Sulli just did a commercial for Etude House! While Sulli had been waiting for her new movie, Pirates, to premiere in August, she also was trying to perform for you ungrateful “fans”. It’s no wonder she is sick and tired! f(x) gets pulled every-which-way. You people don’t know what hard work is.

I’m sure you haters are all enjoying your 20 minutes of fame, as all of your hateful comments have been called on. You have the satisfaction of knowing news media is giving you attention. You happy now? You won, you cunts! You also have the satisfaction of knowing you cut deep into the f(x) fandom. You can smile with glee as your comments hold power. You can jump up and down with happiness that now your precious idols have the chance to make it on music shows without f(x) as competition. You pricks have officially destroyed this comeback for us all.

I would rather you people to have never listened to K-pop a day in your life than destroy all the fun. Music and entertainment are supposed to be fun, something everyone can enjoy. It’s not supposed to be a playground for hate and evil. You idiots have certainly ruined our f(x) party this summer. f(x) said they hardly get to work together or see each other anymore, and this was their chance to spend more time together. You pricks just destroyed everything.

I’m officially having a bad week. Ya’ll hit me up and tell me what you think of this nonsense. If you’re one of those people who contributed to this, tell me what made you be this evil. Please, I just want to understand why you hate so hard. I’m so disappointed, I can’t even sleep. I can’t even listen to the album without shedding a tear.

f(x) Red Light album

I’m angry, but I’m not going to stop promoting this group. They are talented, artistic, and amazing people that I feel deserve respect and recognition. My excitement for this comeback has gone down the drain, but I look forward to August 15, where at least they will perform “Red Light” one more time.

HELP SPREAD THE WORD: #StoptheHate #SulliImSorry

1 Jul

It’s that time of year again, and of course, f(x) and BoA performed at the festival like they do every year. This time, though, the girls are bringing some SM boys along.

Two of my favorite girls, in the same place! I’m still snooping for some f(x) and BoA interactions…

After years years of inactivity, BoA returns to the stage! Good job, BoA! The Queen has returned!

Even though that smoke was a little distracting, and I wish BoA sang live for “Hurricane Venus”, BoA did a really good job. I’m proud of her!

BoA’s Japanese comeback will be in SEPTEMBER for all of those people interested.

f(x) also returns to the stage with their songs. They seemed a bit tired, but they brought their energy to “Hot Summer”. I think they’re ready for some “RED LIGHT”!

f(x)’s comeback will be JULY 7, 2014 for all those people interested.

5 May

By now, if you’ve been following my blog, you know that I’ve been f(x) crazy for the last two months, and my obsession doesn’t seem to be slowing down any time soon. It won’t slow down until my big “promotional move” I have planned this summer. But that will be kept under my hat until then…

Just remember to #bfx2us and put your town behind it to show where your love for f(x) is coming from, if of course, you’ve fallen in love with this group as much as I have.

Well, this article is a part of that promotion. My goal is to push for an f(x) tour for, at least, next year.

To all of you who have watched the music videos, and who doubt the talent of the f(x) members, I will be doing something similar to an artist “portfolio”. In this case, I will be showcasing the musical background and skills of each f(x) artist. This resume “portfolio” of sorts will show all readers why I think these girls qualify to be a part of f(x), why I believe them to be SM’s major female multi-national group, and why I think f(x) has what it takes to make it internationally.

Basically, this is why I think you newcomers should hire them as one of your new favorite K-pop groups. 😉

Drum roll please…

Today, Ladies and Gentlemen, I will be introducing the power vocalist, the amazing dancer: LUNA!

Park Sun-Young “Luna”

f(x) Luna

Luna is the sweet, compassionate, and extremely talented member of f(x). There is no denying how talented this girl is. This girl has some seriously powerful vocals! She’s been compared to BoA, Queen of K-pop and SM Town’s first major international star.

Luna has a lot of “soul”. Her inspirations include Whitney Houston and Jennifer Hudson. She is very fascinated with African American culture and music. She often mentions her fascination with African American dances and R&B sounds.

Luna is, by far, the kindest. She has shown the most compassion out of all the other f(x) members.

She is also the most hard-working, as one psychologist in a radio interview pointed out. She LOVES music, anyone can tell, because all she does is sing!

Luna is a bit dorky and funny, too!

Speaking of music, it’s time to review Luna-Bear’s credentials! This should be good.

Luna Can Sing

Really? Do I have to explain? If I do, that’s a shame, because this girl…she’s A-MAZING! If you have never heard her vocals, I suggest you do an about-face and head back to youtube to listen to more f(x) music. Luna is the lead vocalist for a very good reason. She loves to sing and music has a lot of meaning to her. You can tell. She’s not just a great singer, but she feels the music, which is why she’s so good.

I honestly feel she is the best singer in SM Entertainment.

Luna sang “And I Am Telling You (I’m Not Going)” at the Samsung-deong F(x) Showcase performance.

Luna sang “One Thousand Days” on Immortal Song 2.

Luna sang on Immortal Song 2 featuring f(x) mate Amber.

Luna sang Michael Jackson-inspired “I Don’t Know” on Immortal Song 2.

Luna sang “Stupid” on Immortal Song 2.

Luna performed quite a musical number called “Travel Companion” for Immortal Song 2.

Luna singing “Don’t Forget”.

Luna singing “Calling Out”.

Luna singing with Onew the song “Beauty and the Beast”.

Luna sings to the Rumba dance in Girls’ Generation Live.

Luna unveiled herself as the “masked singer” in King of Masked Singer. She sang “Sad Fate” as her final performance.

Luna sang with top vocalists Ailee, Eunji from Apink, and Solar from Mamamoo!

Luna Can Dance

As if that wasn’t enough, Luna can DANCE. The girl was a hip-hop star as a kid. She can REALLY dance.

Luna dancing to “Maybe”.

Luna dancing as a child on Truth Game.

A compilation of Luna’s dancing.

Luna dancing pre-debut.

Luna dances in her new solo music video “Free Somebody”!

Luna Can play the Keyboard and Speak Sign

Yep, we have to add this talent to that list: She can play the keyboard!

Luna signs her song in sign language, and shows off her keyboard skills in “The Day the Sun Rises” on Immortal Song 2.

Luna Writes Her Own Music

For Luna’s recent solo mini album, Free Somebody, Luna has written two songs! Apparently, she has come out of the box with song-writing talent!

Luna wrote the songs “I Wish” and “My Medicine”.

Isn’t Luna amazingly talented?! And Luna is all about the music! She may not get as much attention and promotion as the other girls, but she doesn’t need it. She DESERVES to be called Queen!

Luna has acting experience as well. She acted in Saving Mrs. Go Bongshil and the Broadway musical High School Musical in Korea.

Luna always struck me as dramatic, so it’s no surprise she’s a pretty good actress!

Leave me a comment and let me know what you think!

Just remember to #bfx2us and put your town behind it to show where your love for f(x) is coming from, if of course, you’ve fallen in love with this group as much as I have.

Well, this article is a part of that promotion. My goal is to push for an f(x) tour for, at least, next year.

Just how Talented is f(x) Sulli?

Just how Talented is f(x) Victoria?

Just how Talented is f(x) Amber?

Just how talented is f(x) Luna?

To all of you who have watched the music videos, and who doubt the talent of the f(x) members, I will be doing something similar to an artist “portfolio”. In this case, I will be showcasing the musical background and skills of each f(x) artist. This resume “portfolio” of sorts will show all readers why I think these girls qualify to be a part of f(x), why I believe them to be SM’s major female multi-national group, and why I think f(x) has what it takes to make it internationally.

Basically, this is why I think you newcomers should hire them as one of your new favorite K-pop groups. 😉

Today, this article will focus on the lovely, ever-popular Krystal Jung!

Chrystal Soo Jung “Krystal”

Krystal is the beautiful “maknae” of the group, which simply means she’s the youngest. She’s always envied for her striking looks. Many people deem her the prettiest member, and she was even on a poll for “Most Enviable Body”.

Krystal is easily recognized as Girls’ Generation (SNSD) Jessica’s sister. But she has formed her own identity.

Krystal is often called “Ice Princess” because she’s a good ice skater and…because some people think she has a hard time appearing sweet and kind, so they might take her as “cold”. She was said to “struggle with an aeygo” on a radio interview, which means she struggles to have a cute and charming personality, even if she appears cute and charming.

I like that about Krystal. It means she’s not phony. She seems like a very honest and straightforward person. Her humor is very cynical and she quickly cuts her eyes.

She has an edge about her, but I like it.

Most people think Krystal is the most stylish out of everyone in f(x). But that depends on your taste.

Isn’t she gorgeous! I especially like when she smiles, I mean when she has one of her genuine smiles…which is rare to find, but like finding a hidden treasure.

Oh, but enough about Krystal’s lovely edge. Let’s get right to her credentials as a K-pop star!

Krystal Can Sing

Just about everybody knows Krystal can sing. She is often compared vocally to her sister Jessica and to group mate Luna. But her voice is unique and powerful in its own right. She and Luna do many duets together.

Even Amber said she is a fan of Luna and Krystal’s duets, which is probably why she let them take over her song “Good-bye Summer”…

Krystal is apart of SM’s The Ballad

Krystal sang a duet called “You are my Destiny” with Luna for the single Chu

Krystal sang “Be My Baby” in the drama High Kick 3

Krystal Can Dance

Krystal isn’t given credit as lead dancer or anything like that, but Krystal is a polished dancer! Many people have to recognize that she is a powerful dancer. It just adds to her list of talents. But Krystal is one of the f(x) members who gets the most attention, so…many probably wouldn’t be surprised.

Krystal’s skating helps her to be a graceful dancer!

F(x) had a dynamite dance intro to “The Jump Off” and “Freeze”. Krystal, of course, shined.

Krystal Can play Piano

Unless you are a fan of Krystal or her sister, you probably didn’t know Krystal could play piano. Why? Because SM doesn’t show this talented side of hers very often. That’s why. And it’s such a shame, because Krystal has amazing piano skills.

Please, have a listen. Hopefully, somehow, someway, SM will open their ears, too.

Krystal featured with sister Jessica from Girls’ Generation and showed off her piano skills

Krystal Catches on to Languages Quickly

Krystal is the best member when it comes to catching on to new languages. She was born in the USA, but was basically raised in South Korea. This means she speaks fluent English and Korean. But she caught on to Japanese and the Thai language pretty quickly, too!

Krystal and Victoria change between Korean and their own native languages

Krystal speaks the best Japanese out of all of the f(x) members, which is why she was asked to sing for The Ballad

Krystal is really talented, isn’t she? WOW. Simply stunning! Beauty and talent! Very hard to find both in one body sometimes…

Krystal is also an amazing ice skater!

Krystal is also quite the actress as well. She’s a very talented person!

This article will be about the cutie Sulli!

Choi Jinri “Sulli”

Sulli is f(x)’s “Giant baby” because she looks the youngest, is one of the youngest, has a baby face, but is SUPER tall. Okay, maybe not super, but she’s pretty tall.

Sulli is so pretty that IU was inspired to write the song “Peach” based on her beauty! She is often praised for her unique features. She has “kiss kiss” lips.

There are many beautiful girls in Korea and in f(x), but Sulli’s beauty is strikingly unique. Her face is so different.

Sulli is very cute. She’s always wearing loose clothing, particularly skirts and t-shirts, and often sneakers.

Sulli is very well-known for her acting skills (To the Beautiful You), but many people misjudge her when it comes to music.

So, let’s review her credentials, shall we?

Sulli can Sing and write music

I’m here to tell you that Sulli isn’t all beauty. She actually has a pretty voice!

I used to hear a lot of negative things about her, so I wondered: Can she really sing or dance?

SO, like I usually do, I decided to do deeper research, since I like to go beyond the surface. I happened to find some clips of Sulli singing, and she’s actually pretty good.

Sulli has recently come out with her own song “Goblin” , written and sung by her.

Sulli also wrote and sang two other songs on her single Goblin called “On the Moon” and “Dorothy”.

Sulli sang the song “Nagging” in To the Beautiful You

Sulli also sang “Peach” in To the Beautiful You. The song was originally written and sung by IU, but the lyrics were about Sulli, who is IU’s best friend.

Sulli sang “White” on Music Bank with f(x) Krystal, 4Minute’s Sohyun, Miss A’s Suzy, and Kara’s Jiyoung

Sulli sang “Circus” in English in a “Maknae” performance

Sulli sang “The Way Idols Break Up” with Heechul from Super Junior

Sulli sang “7989” with Kangta

Sulli Can play piano and guitar

Yea, isn’t it shocking? I hate that SM hides such talent. Sulli is actually really good at this! But she showed more of it as a child.

This is what I notice about women: They show most of their talents as children, and then grow up to just show mostly their beauty. Which isn’t bad, but it dampens the quality of the music, ya know? I wish she would show people this side more often.

Sulli can dance

Sulli is always attacked as being the “weakest” dancer. Well, maybe it’s because F(x)’s choreography doesn’t bring out the best of her abilities. Sulli is very good at dancing the Rumba.

Sulli had a medley of dances.

Sulli dance cut with Taemin and in a commercial.

Sulli has rap experience

I’m not going to call Sulli 2Pac here, but she has pretty good flow considering her experience is limited. Not bad.

Sulli rapping on the radio

This is proof of Sulli’s musical experience and why I feel she is worthy to be a K-pop idol and a member of f(x). She is very misjudged.

Sulli is also an amazing actress, as many saw in To the Beautiful You and Ballad of Seo Dong.

“Make Your Move” Movie Review–SM Entertainment’s first U.S. film

19 Apr

Make_Your_Move_3D

Make Your Move was definitely an SM Entertainment movie, and the first one they released in the USA.

At first, I was a little skeptical. Lionsgate dropped this film, so my thinking was that they probably didn’t think this movie was a good one. So, I didn’t come in expecting too much. But after watching it, I was surprised. It was actually pretty good! It was better than the last two Step Up sequels honestly. It got the same reviews…so I don’t understand why Lionsgate dropped this film. I know they merged with Summit, but Summit is doing Step Up: All In, which is due to come out this summer, and I’m sure they’ll be working the same material. The only difference is this dance was unique. I don’t get it…It’s not like critics will be any easier on that movie, and people would’ve enjoyed this movie.

From the director Duane Adler, we get a movie that follows her resume. This movie is very similar to Save the Last Dance and Step Up. In fact, it’s a combination of the two. Combine a classic dance, racial conflict, and some sexy, hip-hop footwork (along with bumpin’ club music) and you get Make Your Move. So if you’re a fan of those movies, this one won’t disappoint.

Make Your Move is the story of a young woman named Aya (BoA Kwon) and a young man named Donny (Derek Hough) who both love to dance. But they both take on very unique styles of dancing: Donny tap dances, and Aya mixes Taiko drumming with tap dancing.

The two meet at Donny’s brother’s club one day, after Aya sabotages the performance on the stage at the time and takes over. Donny then joins Aya in a hot and sexy bar dance. Donny instantly falls for her.

But there’s a problem in paradise: their brothers own rival clubs, and this rivalry is VERY intense. To add, both clubs are threatened by some Wall-Street, rich-guy, douchebag who is obsessed with Aya.

This makes their relationship almost “forbidden” in a sense. This is aside from their own personal struggles and trials (Donny violates his parole in New Orleans to dance in Brooklyn and Aya has to find the money to extend her Visa so she won’t get deported back to Japan).

Inspired from Romeo and Juliet, this story proved itself to live up to former dance movies by the director.

Like I do often, I will review this movie in sections. I don’t want to give too much away. 😉

Story/Plot: I wouldn’t say this had the most unique and thought-provoking story in the world. It was simple enough for the young 10-year old behind me to understand the movie. This concept has been done before. Because it’s a pretty overtly done story, the outcome is pretty predictable. However, the story WAS engaging. You did wonder what would happen next. You did wonder what the two brothers, the rivals in the movie, would do to screw up everything and make matters more challenging. I wasn’t bored watching the movie, but I didn’t leave the movie in contemplation the whole night.

I also applaud the story for being smooth, and not leaving any plot holes. I could keep up. Things didn’t move too fast, but things also didn’t move too slow. I wasn’t confused.

This movie was like a musical, only instead of breaking out in singing, they broke out in dance, often randomly.

The best part of this movie was the dancing. Both BoA and Derek Hough have some SERIOUS professional skills, and it was evident in this movie. BoA and Donny showed off their strong choreography. But hey, this is a dance movie, that’s what they’re supposed to do…though many movies fail in this regard.

This movie definitely brought a new generation of dancing. I learned about a new dance, and saw something that peaked my interest. So I wasn’t disappointed. I was always eager to see how this dance would play out throughout the movie.

This movie seemed catered to tweens and teens, like most dance movies.

Some may be disappointed that the ending isn’t stomping out an opponent, but I think the final outcome of the movie drifts from the way usual dance movies in this day-and-age end…

But honestly, overall, I went in not expecting too much. But the movie was actually better than I thought it would be. Much better.

Characters: While Derek Hough played a very typical romantic interest (an ex-con, homeless man who dreams of dancing), Aya was somewhat different than what I expected of her. For starters, Aya was sexy in a NON-SLUTTY way. I don’t once remember her wearing skimpy clothing, or the camera focusing on her butt, breasts, belly, or anything below her face, though she had some nice outfits in this movie. In fact, she was quite the tomboy. But she owned that tomboy. She made that tomboy look VERY sexy. A new side to BoA stepped out.

Aya was very “gangster” to me. She stood up for herself. I wouldn’t call her a feminist-though those themes seem prevalent in the film. I connected with Aya. She was confident, smart, funny, and daring. She wasn’t sweet and innocent, like I expected her to be.

On the flip-side, I was at first confused as to why it was so difficult for Aya to “find the money” to pay off her Visa. There were easier ways than dancing, but I think that was the point. Aya wanted to get it by finding a job dancing instead of doing something she hated…well, that’s what I got out of it. Maybe Aya couldn’t get jobs easily because she was foreign…But her brother didn’t think it was such a smart idea either, so…

Surprisingly, BoA’s English has gotten REALLY good! Or maybe, it was just the dialogue that was good. But the script was well-suited to the characters’ personalities, and it wasn’t cheesy. Many times when we think of singers acting in movies, we’re often prepared for some poor acting. But BoA was really natural, I have to give it to her. You could tell she was comfortable with Derek.

There were no random filler characters (you know, the random person put in the story for no other reason than to make it funny). Every character served it’s purpose. I wouldn’t call all of the characters unique. The brothers were very typical rivals. I don’t even remember their names, but they served their purpose: to make the two lovers’ lives miserable. I do remember the douchebag Michael, but he’s kind of the main antagonist. Then there are the two ladies who support the brothers’ roles, and they merely serve as people who move the story along.

This story basically focused ON the story and focused on the point: to show a new side to dancing.

I was a little disappointed that Yuhno from TVXQ only made a small appearance, but he danced well, so I wasn’t too disappointed…

Setting: The setting begins in New Orleans, where Donny lives. I wish we could have seen more of him in this place, but I suppose it wasn’t necessary. We see him do his cool tap dance, and then it’s off to Brooklyn…

There were basically two main scenes: the two rival clubs and the abandoned church. Donny was homeless, so he didn’t have a house we could see. Aya lived with her extended family, so I’m sure she didn’t spend too much time at home. Aya did work in a coffee shop…

Of course, the main focus was on the clubs.

OST: The original soundtrack was AWESOME. Yes, we heard songs from American artists, but we also heard songs from some k-pop artists like  f(x), Girls’ Generation, and a nice collaboration with Krystal from f(x), Jessica (SNSD), and EXO-M’s Kris in the song “Say Yes”. So we heard a few SM artists in the mix.

My only disappointment was that we only heard f(x)’s “Nu Abo” over a computer. 😦 I was so hoping they would play it at the end or in a club scene. That song is too smokin’ to just be hiding behind a computer!…

But overall, the OST is fabulous for fans of K-pop and pop or hip-hop music in general.

Overall, on a scale from 1 to 5, I give this movie a 3/5. 1 awful 2  Ok  3 Good 4 Very Good 5 Excellent

On a scale from 1 to 10, I give this movie an 8/10. 1 DON’T WATCH 2 Bad movie, but should watch for laughs 3 had a few good moments 4 I liked just one part of the movie 5 ok 6 It was different and unique 7 Interesting 8 Pretty Good 9 Really Good 10 Go WATCH NOW

This movie was good, it wasn’t boring. It wasn’t the most unique story told, but it wasn’t utter garbage. It was a good movie that I would watch again. Mostly, this movie is good for a DVD release. I wasn’t disappointed, in fact, the movie was better than I thought it would be. The dancing was killer, the story kept my interest, the characters didn’t suck terribly, though many weren’t extremely developed. BoA shined in this movie. This dialogue was to-the-point and not stuffed with crude humor. Every scene was necessary, every character moved the story along. This movie was just like the usual Duane Adler movie.

So, all you lovers of K-pop and dance, this movie is one of the best. I rarely see a good film staring a foreign actor/actress. But this one isn’t disappointing.

Because this is an indie film, I was informed that this movie is NOT showing everywhere. So, check the listings in your surrounding area, particularly, major cities. I had to drive 30 minutes away to see this movie. But that’s better than what others may have to endure to catch this flick…
